Due to its dilapidated condition, an existing boat had to be reduced to its bare structure and the skin reconstructed to house a two level restaurant. The promoters had access to old doors and windows which were retrieved from old dilapidated houses of the region. The idea is to create a framework for the external skin such that these elements could be fitted on to it, to create a collage of various styles of openings juxtaposed with each other. The main challenge was to integrate these elements without affecting the buoyancy of the boat.
Interior spaces are designed such that the bare structure of the boat gets exposed, with minimal interventions, only to integrate the services. The original hardwood floor boards of the boat are exposed. The bar counter is designed by taking a defunct small boat and cutting it into half.
